Namibia's
General Weather
Namibia's climate is typical of a desert country, with hot daytime temperatures and cold nights. The majority of the country is covered by desert, resulting in low humidity and little to no rainfall. Here's what you can expect during different seasons:
Dry Season (May to October - Winter):
- There is minimal rainfall during the entire winter season, and humidity is low.
- Wildlife tends to gather around waterholes and rivers when other water resources dry up.
- May: The end of summer with pleasant temperatures around 24-28°C/75-82°F.
- June: Nights are chilly, dropping below 10°C/50°F, while daytime temperatures remain pleasant around 20-24°C/68-75°F.
- July & August: The main winter months with colder mornings. Pack warm clothing for morning game drives. Maximum temperatures range from 21-25°C/70-77°F, and minimum temperatures can fall below freezing in deserts and higher areas.
- September & October: The mornings become less chilly, and the heat gradually builds up. Clear skies and dry conditions.
Wet Season (November to April - Summer):
- November: The heat continues to rise, and the daytime temperatures are above 30°C/86°F. Some afternoon clouds start to build up.
- December: The first rains arrive, bringing a drop in temperature and a change in the landscape as vegetation comes to life.
- January & February: Midsummer with hot and humid weather. Maximum temperatures range from 30-35°C/86-95°F, with peaks over 40°C/104°F in the desert. Occasional afternoon downpours may occur.
- March & April: Rainfall starts to decrease, and temperatures cool down after the rains. Nights become cold again, and average daytime temperatures range from 25-30°C/77-86°F.
Please note that these are general weather patterns, and conditions may vary.
